The most extreme approach to weight loss is the most successfu
Some people are so desperate to lose weight they’ll stop at nothing, even turning to
surgery to rid themselves of the misery of being overweight, or even obese.
The problems with physical surgery however are two-fold
·
Cost – an operation can cost as much as $25,000
·
Risk of death – the NCBI put this at 0.3%
Now, even of you have pockets deep enough to fork out
$25,000 for surgery, a 1 in 333 chances of not making it out the other end of
the procedure is a serious cause for concern.
Let’s put that number into perspective.
The odds of dying in a plane crash are about 1 in 11,000,000.
In other words, you’re 30,000 times more likely to die as the result of
bariatric surgery than you are to die in a plane crash.
With odds like that, you might want to stick to flying!
